Ancient lifestyle school lesson "The Art of War in the 17th Century"

This year, the museum has added a military history exhibition, focusing on the military function of the castle. Four 17th century cannons are displayed in the castle's defensive ramparts. Five more 17th century cannons are displayed on special stands in the courtyard of the castle ruins, while the indoor military exhibition features reconstructions of 17th century musketeer and artilleryman costumes and weapons.

To give visitors a better idea of how the castle was defended against invaders, on 14th of October there will be Ancient lifestyle school lesson "The Art of War in the 17th Century", which will include battle scenes from the Polish film "The Flood", depicting the Swedish invasion of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth in the middle of 17th century.

 

The event is part of the School of Ancient Lifestyle, which has been held at the Bauska Castle Museum since 2010. During the event, visitors have the opportunity to learn various ancient craft skills and gain insight into the lifestyle, domestic culture, science and discoveries of period  from late 15th century till 17th century.
